Position Overview
We are seeking an M&A Researcher to identify, evaluate, and facilitate strategic M&A opportunities in B2B SaaS that align with our objectives and enhance our market positioning. The ideal candidate will have a background in investment analysis, M&A research, or a similar role with a proven track record of conducting detailed research and analysis. Reporting directly to the Senior M&A Manager, the M&A Researcher will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the M&A pipeline, organizing potential opportunities, and preparing in-depth research reports and presentations.
Key Responsibilities:
- M&A Pipeline Development: Actively develop and maintain the M&A pipeline, ensuring a constant flow of potential opportunities for team.blue to explore.
- Opportunity Management: Manage and organize clusters of potential M&A SaaS opportunities, ensuring they are systematically categorized for easy access and analysis.
- Strategic Mapping: Map out SaaS clusters and segments for strategic analysis to identify areas of high potential and strategic fit for the company.
- In-depth Research: Prepare and regularly update comprehensive research reports on target companies and clusters, providing deep dives into their business models, market positioning, and potential synergies.
- Target Lists Creation: Create longlists and shortlists of potential M&A targets based on thorough analysis and strategic alignment with team.blue’s objectives.
- Presentation Preparation: Prepare engaging and informative presentations for cluster deep dives and related updates, facilitating decision-making processes.
- Introduction meetings: Organize first introduction meeting for the Senior Manager and prepare short briefing.
Detailed tasks:
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of potential M&A opportunities, focusing on B2B SaaS businesses within the competitive landscape.
- Perform benchmarking analysis, including pricing and product comparisons, to understand the competitive positioning of potential targets.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and (visually advanced) presentations on target companies, highlighting business & pricing models, customer personas, and other relevant aspects.
- Engage in hands-on product testing to evaluate the functionalities, features, and performance of target products.
- Evaluate online media performance and interactions of potential targets to gauge their market presence and customer engagement.
- Investigate the technologies utilized by target companies, assessing their potential and innovative capabilities.
- Use external tools to help gathering the required information in a short period of time.
- Seek and analyse financial backing information of potential M&A targets to understand their financial health and investment potential.
- Categorize prospect targets based on relevancy and potential, prioritizing those with the highest potential for strategic alignment and growth contribution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in investment analysis, M&A research, or a similar role, preferably in the technology or SaaS sectors.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to conduct detailed research and analysis.
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities, capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficient in data analysis tools and software, with exceptional presentation and communication skills.
- A proactive team player with a keen interest in technology, innovation, and the competitive landscape of B2B SaaS businesses.
- Independent & proactive worker, fast learner with willingness to develop.
- English (Business) fluency.
